![]() | Acidic Food List by Pin It |
The foods in this list are all acidic food, that is foods that become acidic in the body.
We have discussed the importance of maintaining a healthy body pH balance. Not doing so results in a condition called acidosis, an excess of acid in the bodys' internal environment.
Excess acid can lead to many types of disease. In fact it is often said by natural health practitioners that disease cannot live in a body that is NOT acidic.
We can see then that not only is it important to increase our consumption of alkaline foods, it is also important to know which are acid forming foods, so we can limit our consumption of them.
A good rule of thumb is to consume at least 60% alkaline foods and 40% acid foods.
This list of acid forming foods should help. Print out the list and bring it with you when you eat out if you think it will help.
For the most part it is pretty easy to tell acid forming foods. They are mostly animal products (including dairy) and grains. Fried foods, nuts and legumes are also acidic foods. If you limit your consumption of these foods to 40% of your diet, you are well on your way to great health and a healthy body pH balance.
Of course we know that creating a healthy body is all part of the mind body spirit connection. Knowing the difference between acidic food and alkaline foods plays a huge part in this.
